God Sees The Truth, But Waits

“God Sees the Truth, But Waits” by Leo Tolstoy is a story read in school and which I fall back into whenever I feel I have been misunderstood!

Here’s one such incident that reminds me God definitely sees the truth…

Back in college, ours was a small closely knit group until one in the group seemed to be demonstrating a very weird behaviour. Initially I kept it to myself but between me and one of my best friends till this date, we in the middle of a separate conversation arrived at the same conclusion one day. Just like me, my bestie was also avoiding bringing that topic up in our chats but that day we unconsciously did and were satisfied to know we both had similar thoughts.

So we both knew how to deal with the odd RR, we knew her lies and we let her be. She would consciously/unconsciously create rift between people and one such time she lied about some books and that created some misunderstanding between me and a senior.

Also out of nowhere another friend NS distanced himself from me and my bestie for no apparent reasons.

Years later, just before finishing my post grad, I and NS connected through batchmates, given that there was no FB, whatsapp then. And after the initial greetings, NS expressed his regret at having distanced himself from us and to my utter surprise named RR to be the reason. He had figured out the damage that RR had done but it was too late and he was waiting for a chance to reconcile with us. It has been many many years since then and I do not remember the details of what RR had actually said and done, but coming from NS it was a surprise.

In a few months from that day, I was to move to the city where NS was, and we promised to catch up. On the first catch up, NS shared with me many more details of RR to leave me shocked. I cannot recall all these details but it just proved that me and bestie knew about RR long back.

I had no grudges against NS, and we both laughed about those incidents whenever we spoke about them even later. RR used to be in the same city but neither of us ever cared to meet her; in fact I would have nightmares of her till a certain point.

Between the distance that was created by RR, and the time when friendship returned, a few years had passed, but all is well that ends well; and God Sees The Truth, But Waits.
